San Antonio, TX (June 26, 2013) – It’s time to return to the desert with the best trail run in a national park - the 2014 Big Bend Ultra Run at Big Bend National Park.
Overland Race Management has set the date for the 2014 Big Bend Ultra Run for Sunday January 19th during the Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend.
The date and race must still be approved by the National Park Service. The Big Bend Ultra Run raises funds for Big Bend National Park.
“This race would not be possible without the support and cooperation of Big Bend National Park,” said Paul Baltutis, Big Bend 50 race director.
Registration will open in the next few days.
“We will finish filing for the necessary permit this week,” said Carroll Voss, ORM Director and Big Bend 50 cofounder. “If we get the nod, we will open registration soon.
“We know everyone’s been waiting a long time to sign up,” he added. “We just ask for a little more patience.”
National Park Service officials will have the final say after reviewing ORM’s special use permit application. Should approval be given, registration should open almost immediately.
Additional updates will be announced as soon as they are available.
“Runners World” selected the Big Bend 50 as the best trail run in a national park in June, 2012, “America’s Best Trail Races”.
